Meeting Gregg Jefferies

Former baseball slugger Gregg Jefferies made a visit to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. Gregg was in town for an eye exam and some other business.

Gregg was drafted by the New York Mets out of High School in the 1985 amateur draft. During his minor league career Gregg was regarded as a top prospect and won the Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year Award in 1986 and 1987. He eventually went on to play for six teams during his big league career which spanned from 1987 to 2000. Many believe Gregg never lived up to the hype as a big leaguer but he did have some good seasons and made two All-Star teams.

What is Gregg up to these days? He is currently living in Las Vegas and works as a hitting instructor.

Meeting Brian Cook

I made another visit to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. The visit consisted of meeting former Los Angeles Laker Brian Cook.

Brian played his college ball at Illinois where he was a standout his senior year. He earned the honor of being named the Big Ten Conference Player of the Year in 2003. The Los Angeles Lakers took notice and selected Brian as the 24th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. Brian spent several seasons playing in LA both as a Los Angeles Laker and Clipper.

After playing for a number of teams and a lengthy NBA career, Brian called it quits in 2012. He now takes his talents to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu as a staff member. It was a pleasure to meet him.
