Prospect of the Day

Better late than never…

On May 27, 2016, Julio Urias made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers at only 19 years of age.

Julio spent the 2014 season with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League. Though only a teenager, he did well and rose quickly through the Dodgers farm system.

Julio is a promising left handed pitcher from Mexico. I want to wish the young superman the best in The Show.

Meeting Dave Burba

Former MLB pitcher Dave Burba came to San Bernardino with his Lancaster JetHawks for a series against the Inland Empire 66ers. Dave is currently the JetHawks pitching coach. I met him a number of times back when he was with another California League team, the Modesto Nuts, as pictured above.

I already had Dave sign plenty of items for me, but this time around I wanted to have him sign a bobblehead. As always, Dave was friendly and happy to sign my items.

This is now the oldest bobblehead that I own. It’s a 2001 Cleveland Indians stadium giveaway.

Prospect of the Day

I guess it’s better late than never. On September 12, 2016, Matt Olson made his major league debut with the Oakland A’s. Last season, Matt hit 24 home runs in just 59 games for the A’s. I met Matt when he was a top prospect while playing for the Stockton Ports of the California League.

Matt is already off to a good start this season by hitting a home run on opening day of 2018. My guess is that he will be an All-Star in the near future. I want to wish Matt the best of luck in The Show.

Meeting Austin Barnes

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes came to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. Austin was there for an eye examination and glasses.

Austin made his MLB debut in May of 2015 and is now seeing all of his hard work pay off. This past season, Austin appeared in over one hundred games for the Dodgers. He also caught behind the plate in all seven of the World Series Games.

I want to wish Austin the best of luck next season, as the Dodgers will try to make another World Series run.
