On April 13, 2024 Dr. Alex Corbin Liu hosted his Spring Music Festival Spectacle that featured many live performances from recording artists who had hit songs. Live music performances featured were Big Mountain, Blessid Union of Souls, Shanice, Candyman, 2 Live Crew, and a few others.

The Spring weather was a change from the previous year, where the summer heat was just too much at times to remain outdoors. This was also a celebration for special guest Michael Cooper, who had recently been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

To the left is Big Mountain lead vocalist Joaquin “Quino” McWhinney. The band gained wide recognition for the cover of Peter Frampton’s “Baby, I Love Your Way”, which became a top 10 hit single.

Former NBA players Byron Scott and Pooh Richardson crashed the party to celebrate Michael Cooper’s induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Mr. Mixx of The 2 Live Crew. One of 2 Live Crew’s hit songs was ‘Me So Horny’ which was performed at the party.

Actor Thomas Ian Nicholas well known for his roles in the American Pie movie series as well as his role as ‘Henry Rowengartner’ in Rookie of the Year.

Epic Mazur from the group Crazytown which rose to fame in the early 2000’s with their hit song ‘Butterfly.’

A beautiful cake was ordered for the Hall of fame induction and celebration of former Los Angeles Laker Michael Cooper.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, I couldn’t stay for the entire event and had to leave early. I missed many music performances and meet and greets. Missed photo opportunities were of Shanice, Money-B, Vince Ferragamo, Michael Cooper, and rapper Candyman to name a few. Thanks to Dr. Alex Corbin Liu for another great event.
