Meeting Brian Cook

I made another visit to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. The visit consisted of meeting former Los Angeles Laker Brian Cook.

Brian played his college ball at Illinois where he was a standout his senior year. He earned the honor of being named the Big Ten Conference Player of the Year in 2003. The Los Angeles Lakers took notice and selected Brian as the 24th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. Brian spent several seasons playing in LA both as a Los Angeles Laker and Clipper.

After playing for a number of teams and a lengthy NBA career, Brian called it quits in 2012. He now takes his talents to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu as a staff member. It was a pleasure to meet him.

Cafe Organix Grand Opening

Cafe Organix held a grand opening event in the city of San Bernardino. The event featured 4x NBA champion John Salley, who is an investor of the restaurant.

It was hard to believe that there would be a planned event like this since we are currently in a pandemic. A rough estimate would of been about 100 people in attendance for the grand opening ceremonies. John talked to the crowd and participated in the ribbon cutting before the restaurants doors opened to the public.

This is what grand opening events look like during a pandemic. There are masks involved but nobody really gives a shit about the social distancing part. How can you social distance being around so many people anyway?

Most people in attendance didn’t attend the grand opening to meet John Salley. They were more interested in eating a good vegan meal. Again, it’s hard to believe an event like this would be planned during a pandemic but it is what it is.

Meeting Ivica Zubac

Former Los Angeles Laker and current Los Angeles Clipper Ivica Zubac visited the optometry. It was just one more NBA player from a bunch that have recently visited the office for eye exams.

Ivica was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2016 NBA draft. Ivica now holds his allegiance to the Clippers after being traded last season. He hopes to contribute to the new look Clippers in their quest to an NBA title. I wish him the best.

Meeting Moe Wagner

Los Angeles Lakers 2018 first round draft pick Moe Wagner came to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. The seven foot center was there to get his eyes checked along with selecting personal eyewear.

Moe played his college ball at Michigan where he was a 2018 Second-team All-Big Ten. He had a good showing in the last Big Ten Tournament where he was named the tournaments MVP. Moe was very excited to be drafted by the Lakers and can’t wait to show his talents in L.A.

Moe is a very nice and polite kid. I want to wish him the best in his upcoming rookie season.

Meeting Michael Cooper

Former Laker Michael Cooper came to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. The Los Angeles Lakers great has been a regular patient of the practice for the past few years.

What was Coop doing at the office on Black Friday? He was checking out the discounted eyewear available at the office. As always, Coop enjoyed his time there and I’m sure he will be back in the near future.

  • 5x NBA Champion.
