Tommy Davidson Book Signing

Long time comedian and actor Tommy Davidson made an appearance to sign copies of his new book Living In Color. The event took place at The Grove’s Barnes & Noble in LA. Fellow comedian and actor D.L. Hughley joined Tommy at this event for a discussion about the book.

Tommy made a name for himself in the ’90s sketch comedy television show In Living Color. It was a show that I grew up watching and loved. Through my eyes In Living Color was basically the ghetto version of SNL. They crossed the line on many of their sketch comedy acts starring actors such as Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, and the Wayans brothers to name a few.

This was a wristband event and I arrived very early. The good thing about a wristband event is that people have the option of leaving and can return for the start of the event. One way that I killed time was by visiting the Griffith Observatory to enjoy the beautiful view.

Now back to the book signing. This event had a much smaller turnout than I anticipated. My guess would of been less than 50 guests were in attendance to meet both comic icons.

Tommy signed my book and was nice enough to sign some In Living Color trading cards as well.

Tommy showed some love to D.L. for coming out to support the book signing.

This was a good small event. The 150 mile round trip was worth every mile driven.

Alyssa Milano Book Signing

Actress, activist, and author Alyssa Milano made an appearance to sign copies of her new children’s book Hope: Project Middle School. The event took place at The Grove’s Barnes & Noble in LA.

The event was scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and unlike the last book signing I attended, I arrived very early. When the event started Alyssa discussed her book alongside the illustrator Eric S. Keyes. It was then followed by a Q&A session and book signing.

I’ve always been a big fan of Alyssa’s earlier work such as the movie Commando, where she co-starred alongside Arnold schwarzenegger and the TV sitcom Who’s the Boss? It was a pleasure to finally meet her.

Eric S. Keyes is also a character designer for the TV series The Simpsons. I had him sign the book as well.

The only issue with this event is that the line moved very slow. For whatever reason some people get to the front of the line and have to tell their life story. Overall it was still a good event.

Meeting Thomas Ian Nicholas

Thomas Nicholas

Actor and musician Thomas Ian Nicholas made an appearance at the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. He is best known for playing Henry Rowengartner in the movie Rookie of the Year and Kevin Myers in the American Pie film series.

Dr. Liu’s web designer Bob, is credited for bringing Thomas to the office. They have known each other for the past 20 years since they both work together in music.

While at the practice Dr. Liu gave Thomas an eye exam and gave him the opportunity to choose new eyewear. Thomas was very happy with the quality and selection of frames that were available at the office. It was all followed by an autograph signing for Dr. Liu and staff.

Here is Thomas giving a shout-out to Dr. Liu for the rarity of eyewear available.

Thomas mentioned that Foo Fighters is his favorite band.

Thomas has his own band which is named the Thomas Nicholas Band.
