Long time comedian and actor Tommy Davidson made an appearance to sign copies of his new book Living In Color. The event took place at The Grove’s Barnes & Noble in LA. Fellow comedian and actor D.L. Hughley joined Tommy at this event for a discussion about the book.
Tommy made a name for himself in the ’90s sketch comedy television show In Living Color. It was a show that I grew up watching and loved. Through my eyes In Living Color was basically the ghetto version of SNL. They crossed the line on many of their sketch comedy acts starring actors such as Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, and the Wayans brothers to name a few.
This was a wristband event and I arrived very early. The good thing about a wristband event is that people have the option of leaving and can return for the start of the event. One way that I killed time was by visiting the Griffith Observatory to enjoy the beautiful view.
Now back to the book signing. This event had a much smaller turnout than I anticipated. My guess would of been less than 50 guests were in attendance to meet both comic icons.
Tommy signed my book and was nice enough to sign some In Living Color trading cards as well.
Tommy showed some love to D.L. for coming out to support the book signing.
This was a good small event. The 150 mile round trip was worth every mile driven.
