Meeting Jose Canseco

Former bash brother Jose Canseco made an appearance at the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. Jose was in town for a couple of appointments, one of which was a stop at the office for new eyewear.

In 2005 Jose’s tell all book Juiced was released. He basically became a rat and named many baseball players who had or were using steroids. Jose made a lot of fans dislike him while smearing his own name.

The truth is Jose in one of my favorite baseball players of all time. His books Juiced and Vindicated being released didn’t change the way I thought about Jose at all. Jose claims he wrote the books to get back at major league baseball for pushing him out of the game and to help clean it up. I don’t believe that at all. I believe he did it for a paycheck. I could be wrong but that’s just my opinion.

Regardless of what people say about Jose, it was a pleasure to have him at the office and he will always remain one of my all time favorite baseball players.

The bashing handshake with a former bash brother. I need to work on my technique though.

Though it didn’t go in his favor, this is still one of my favorite Canseco moments.

Prospect of the Day

Cowart

On August 18, 2015, Kaleb Bryant Cowart made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Once again, Kaleb has been a late season call up and may finally show why he was a first round pick.

Kaleb spent much of the 2012 season with the Inland Empire 66ers of the California League.

I want to wish Kaleb the best of luck in The Show.

Meeting Howard “Hojo” Johnson

66ers

I attended a 66ers game in San Bernardino to meet New York Mets great Howard “Hojo” Johnson. Howard’s team, the High Desert Mavericks, were in town for a three game series against the 66ers.

I had already met Howard at the beginning of the season, but wanted to get more items signed by him. I gave Howard a 16×20 photo for him to keep for himself. He was very grateful for the gift and signed all of my items.

Steve Sax Autograph Signing

OptometrySteve Sax made an appearance at the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. Even though Steve has already done a number of public events at the office, he   continues to draw large crowds.

The entire event went smooth and Steve as always, enjoyed his time at the office.

Chuck Finley Autograph Signing

66ers

Former Angels pitcher Chuck Finley made an appearance at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino. The appearance highlighted Halo Day, where an Angels alumni makes an appearance before the game to sign autographs.

When I arrived the autograph signing had already started. I was surprised to see less than fifty people in line for the 5x All-Star. Chuck signed one item per person and posed for photos.

There was the opportunity to get back in line for an additional item, but my signed baseball and picture with Chuck was good enough for me.
