Meeting Zach Banner

USC offensive tackle Zach Banner came to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu for an eye exam. The 6-foot-8, and roughly 375 pound Trojan is the biggest athlete to ever come to the office.

Zach’s final game with the Trojans was one of the most memorable Rose Bowl games of recent, where USC beat Penn State 52-49. It was the best Rose Bowl game that I had seen since the USC and Texas Rose Bowl of 2006.

Zach is projected to be a second or third round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. I want to wish Zach the best of luck in the NFL.

Fight on!

Facts about Zach

  • From Lakewood, Washington.
  • Majored in communications at USC.

Meeting John David Booty

j-d-booty1

Former USC quarterback John David Booty came to the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. John had his eyes examined by Dr. Liu and then had the opportunity to pick out new eyewear.

It was nice having a former Trojan from the Pete Carroll era at the office. John was very friendly and told us stories from his time at USC.

John had two seasons as the starting quarterback at USC after the departure of Matt Leinart. He shined both years and led the Trojans to two Rose Bowl victories. Following his final season, John was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

UCLA Football Training Camp

Cal State

The UCLA Bruins held football training camp on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino. The Bruins have had at least one week of camp in San Bernardino after Jim Mora took over the head coaching duties. I had never attended since the temperature always hits triple digits this time of year.

This year I did attend two practices and it was a good experience. The practices lasted at least a few hours long and were very entertaining.

After practice, the Bruins would make their way back to the locker room. Along the way they would take posed photos and sign autographs for all fans that asked. Below are a few of the Bruins that I met.
