66ers Team BBQ

66ers

I attended the Inland Empire 66ers meet the team barbecue at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino. Several years ago the 66ers, Class A affiliate of the Angels, also held this event and it was a decent turnout. This time the place was packed.

The $15 per person ticket included an all you can eat buffet with a chance to eat and mingle with all the players on the team. My main focus was meeting the coaching staff and some of the top prospects.

Al Michaels Book Signing

Al Michaels1

On Wednesday evening I didn’t have anything planned so I decided to take a 70 mile drive to The Grove in Los Angeles. Sports broadcaster Al Michaels was scheduled to make an appearance at Barnes & Noble to sign copies of his book, “You Can’t Make This Up.”

It was my first time ever going to The Grove in Los Angeles and didn’t exactly know what to expect.

When Al arrived he briefly discussed his book and did a Q & A with the audience. After the Q & A he signed copies of his book for a turnout that I’m guessing was about 40 people.

The truth is I didn’t make the 140 mile round trip for a signed book, it was to meet this legendary sports broadcaster in person and get a photo op.

Rest In Peace Greg

On January 17, 2015, fitness trainer and model Greg Plitt was tragically killed by a train in Burbank, CA. TMZ has a little about what happened linked here.

Greg was well known around the fitness industry for being on the cover of many fitness magazines and for his television appearances.

I had the privilege of meeting Greg two different times at past Los Angeles Fit Expo events. May the fitness icon rest in peace.

Sam Cassell Autograph Signing

Optometry

Sam Cassell made an appearance at the Optometry Practice of Dr. Alex Corbin Liu. The event was a private signing for patients and people who purchased a minimum number of autograph tickets.

The 3x NBA Champion was very nice to all fans in attendance. He took his time meeting and greeting everyone and appeared to have a good time.

Sam’s playing career is over but he’s still involved in the NBA. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers.

After hitting big shots, Sam frequently did what I call, “the ball juggling dance.”
