Meeting Ivica Zubac

Former Los Angeles Laker and current Los Angeles Clipper Ivica Zubac visited the optometry. It was just one more NBA player from a bunch that have recently visited the office for eye exams.

Ivica was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2016 NBA draft. Ivica now holds his allegiance to the Clippers after being traded last season. He hopes to contribute to the new look Clippers in their quest to an NBA title. I wish him the best.

Prospect of the Day

On September 12, 2016, Renato Nunez made his big league debut with the Oakland A’s.

Renato spent the 2014 season with the Stockton Ports of the California League. He has bounced around the league since his debut but it appears he has found a home playing for the Baltimore Orioles. He is posting up career high numbers in 2019. I want to wish the Venezuelan the best of luck in The Show.

The sun setting in the background wasn’t too kind in this photo.

Meeting Obi Melifonwu

New England Patriots safety Obi Melifonwu stopped by the optometry. It was his first stop at the office for an eye exam and eyewear.

Obi played his college ball at UConn where he made a name for himself as a senior and received an invite to the 2017 Senior Bowl. He then was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. Obi spent last season with the Patriots and is still riding high from the Super Bowl Llll victory over the Rams.

Obi is a hard working young man who looks to get more playing time with the Patriots in the upcoming season. I want to wish him the best.

Prospect of the Day

Better late than never…

On May 27, 2016, Julio Urias made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers at only 19 years of age.

Julio spent the 2014 season with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League. Though only a teenager, he did well and rose quickly through the Dodgers farm system.

Julio is a promising left handed pitcher from Mexico. I want to wish the young superman the best in The Show.

Meeting Maurice Hurst Jr.

Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr. visited the optometry. This was his second visit to the practice as Mo needed to select additional eyewear.

Mo played his college ball at Michigan where he was an All-American and First Team All-Big Ten in 2017. He was projected to be a first round pick in the 2018 NFL draft but was diagnosed with a heart condition before the draft. That issue dropped his stock and Mo eventually was selected in the fifth round by the silver and black.

Mo is an intelligent and nice young man from Massachusetts. I want to wish him the best in the NFL as he will be sacking quarterbacks for many years to come.

Facts about Mo

  • Full name is Maurice Roy Hurst Jr.
  • 2017 First Team All-Big Ten
  • 2017 All-American.
  • Is the son of former New England Patriot Maurice Hurst.
